About Us

Casual

There are plenty of churches in the community around Carmel Mountain Church – Christian Church San Diego that take on a more formal or traditional approach to their services. However, Carmel Mountain Church is a place to be more relaxed and casual – where you can be real and fit right in. You can even enjoy sipping your favorite caffeinated beverage. But consider yourself warned! The dynamic energy of the service may make caffeine unnecessary.  While we strive not to take ourselves too seriously, we do take Jesus Christ very seriously. It is because of Him that we gather as a church, and it is He who deserves all of the attention. We will never be irreverent or disrespectful to our Lord, but we will allow people to come meet Jesus as they are.

Authentic

We all put on certain masks throughout the week; in our jobs, with our friends, families and relationships. At Carmel Mountain Church we want to worship with authenticity and purpose. We are a church of warmth and acceptance. Jesus wants us to worship him as we honestly are, not as we think we should be.  We’re real and authentic when it comes to everyday living too. You don’t have to put on a mask to come to Carmel Mountain Church. We’re a sanctuary for the soul not a show for the sanctimonious.

Relevant

We are a church that deals with today’s issues. We want to be practical without being simplistic. If you can’t live out your Christianity on Monday, why should we hear about it on Sunday? We know that the answers to life’s questions are found in living our lives as the Bible instructs, not in today’s pop psychology. The Bible presents us with a collection of real life stories that have realistic application for our lives today. The Bible is used to teach us about God and His principles. It gives guidance to correct actions not in alignment with God’s will and it instructs how to live more like Jesus.  The services are relevant and creative. We use visually engaging technology to help communicate the message along with creativity to make the truths of Scripture come alive in a way that people can understand and remember.  Our focus is not just within the walls of our church, but on the community in which we gather together. We will look forward to opportunities to serve not just our church body but also the community.

Multipliers

We have a directive: go into the world and preach the Gospel and make disciples. We are a full circle church. We bring people to the Lord, build them up in spiritual faith, and send them out to share the love of Jesus with those with whom they come in contact. It is God’s desire that ALL come to know Him. Because of His great love, He commands us to reach out to those around us and be His witnesses. We seek opportunities to be inclusive with people and allow them to experience the love of Jesus. We want people to get excited about sharing Jesus with their friends, family, and community.

Encouraging

There’s nothing more uplifting than being in an encouraging environment. Of the two loveable characters from Winnie-the-Pooh, who would you rather hang out with: Tigger or Eeyore? Jesus attracted people to him because he was enjoyable to be around. Then, with great credibility, he taught those who would listen about the love of God. In obedience to the Bible and Christ’s teachings, Carmel Mountain Church endeavors to encourage and spur each other in our walk with the Lord. We choose to be “Tigger” people. As a result, we become a positive attraction in and for the community.

Loving

The Apostle Paul, who wrote a significant portion of the New Testament in the Bible, reminds us that given the choice between grace and judgment, grace is the better choice. We are not out to win arguments, but to win people to the love of Jesus.Treating people with love and respect reminds them of the value they hold in the eyes of God.  Jesus is clear when he states that the greatest thing we can do in this life is to love God and love people. Health and growth happen in a loving environment, and we have an environment where people can feel safe to grow in Jesus and know that people still love them.
